Contemporary Issues

My articles below discuss contemporary issues within our current culture. These include: women’s concerns, pop culture entertainment, popular nomenclature, current attitudes towards national holidays, and many more to come!

The Slut
- When we call another woman a slut, we're usually deflecting our own insecurities about sexuality.

Drama
- There's no such thing as being "drama-free." Petty drama is all part of growing up and waking up.

Valentines Day
is a universal opportunity for enjoyment and bonding - no matter how much you might "hate" it.

The Angry Woman
- An angry woman strikes fear in the hearts of everyone. But there's nothing more scary than the insecurity that causes the anger in the first place. We have to acknowledge and deal with those feelings.

Romantic Comedies
only give us a very small piece of the complexity inherent in starting or ending relationships.

Pretension
doesn't just exist in wealthy socialite circles - it's everywhere, and it has the potential to cut us off from people if we don’t acknowledge it.

Television
- Television is my favorite entertainment medium right now, and I feel strongly that we all need an accessible art form in our daily lives.

Accountability
is something that separates us from the apes and allows humans to flourish, as a species. But it's a challenge to be accountable to each other in the contemporary world.

Gossip
isn't nearly as terrible as we make it out to be - as long as we take it with a grain of salt and acknowledge the function it serves in society.

The Holidays, Thanksgiving, and Gratitude
- Thanksgiving brings the spirit of gratitude to the holidays, and there may be a bit of magic in that.
