Self Love
The most important relationship you have is your relationship with YOURSELF. Self-love is a prerequisite to living a satisfying life and having meaningful relationships with others. My articles listed below illustrate my efforts to heighten my own degree of self-love in the face of many universally occurring obstacles.
Self Love Versus Self Hate
- Setting realistic expectations grounded in truth may not instantly transform me into a superstar, but it will help increase my self-love and decrease my self-hate.
Rejection
makes us deal with the reality that other people are "better" than us in some aspects, and it's also a powerful tool for growth.
Worry and Anxiety
can take off like a runaway train, wreaking havoc on my life. This is a strategy of escapism that interferes with the true, genuine experience of living.
The Present Moment and Meditation
- The present moment is the only true reality; it is the place where life actually happens. Meditation is a method that has helped me to become more "present."
Meditation and Excitement
- A meditation practice is a crucial part of my efforts to live more in the present. Feelings of exuberant excitement have made meditation difficult for me in the past.
Change the World, or Not
- Sometimes the world just doesn't change on our command. I deal with the ensuing frustration by changing myself, in small ways.
Color Guard
- in my formative, adolescent years, I was involved in the activity known as Color Guard. My time in the Guard helped me to develop confidence and a profound sense of innate strength.
Play and Adulthood
- In adulthood, I have a hard time giving myself permission to simply play. But, play can be a method of letting go and actively engaging in the world.
Getting What I Want
- I've been in the unusual position lately of getting what I want - in several areas of life. Surprisingly, it's making me a tad uncomfortable.
